Medical Camp

Following a call by the population of Ndejje to friends of Eriz Medical Centre, together with Freedom Church Ndejje Kibutika, we were pleased to take over the health sector for the exhibition which was sponsored by friends of UJUMBE WA UPENDO MINISTRIES.

​

Eriz Medical Centre is a privately owned medical centre located in Ndejje Lubugumu.  Freedom Care Ministries is a born again church that was founded by Pastor Jackson Majwega and it’s located in Ndejje Kibutika.

​

The medical camp was formed on a basis of free quality and professional medical services to the people of Ndejje and the nearby areas. Hundreds of people availed the free medical facilities indiscriminately provided by Eriz Medical Centre together with Freedom Care Ministries. Recently a camp was arranged which offered free services that included eye checkups, general medicine, laboratory services, safe male circumcision, HIV testing and counseling services.

SOCIAL IMPACT

The effect of this activity on the social fabric of the community and wellbeing of the individuals and families is irrefutably high.

Beneficiaries of this free medical camp are not merely limited to people of Kibutika and Lubugumu but also to other surrounding areas.

​

General health checkup was done for people of Ndejje. 746 people enrolled their names for camp out of which 657 for General Health checkup and 89 for EYE checkup. Out of the 746 people, 124 people were freely counseled and tested for HIV, and five new cases were registered (one male and four females). These individuals were referred to the nearby Centre’s that offer ART services and were enrolled in a treatment program that provided free medicine.

Main complaints among the adult population were related to urinary system, musculoskeletal pains, and respiratory tract infections. Some people were taken for laboratory investigations and others were treated symptomatically.

All adults were screened for hypertension and a follow up was done for those individuals that were known to have hypertension. Patients with altered findings and poor adherence to the old treatment were referred to ERIZ Medical Centre for further medical attention.

 

Complaints regarding vision and other ophthalmic complaints were screened and treated by ophthalmologist from AGWAALS Hospital and the program was successfully conducted.

Overall medical and non-medical staff deserves appreciation for the successful free medical camp activity.
